On the program “Alert”, broadcast on Ora News and hosted by journalist Granit Sokolaj, an extensive discussion was held on the activities envisaged within the project “Green Line for Consumer Protection – Food Safety and Strengthening the Protection of Consumer Rights in Albania through the Empowerment of Local CSOs”, funded by the European Union.
Ermelinda Muçaj, Project Officer at the European Movement in Albania (EMA), emphasized that the four roundtables planned within the project, under the framework of the Platform for Partnership on European Integration (PPIE) as the only structure through which non-state actors are involved in the European integration process, aim, among other objectives, to address issues related to Chapters 28, 12, and 1 as part of the project, including those reported by citizens through the Green Line. One of the key elements of this platform is the broad involvement of various stakeholders, including civil society organizations, interest groups, businesses, academics, and local authorities, making the process more inclusive and transparent. In addition to explaining the structure of the PPIE and how different actors can apply to each of 33 Discussion and Consultation Roundtables, corresponding to 33 EU acquis chapters, several important topics were addressed that will be discussed during the working roundtables, in cooperation with the institutions responsible. These topics include meeting the closing benchmarks set by the European Commission, as well as the assessments derived from the European Commission’s 2025 Report.
During the program, the main findings of the Green Line were also presented, along with the way consumer complaints are handled, and the importance of raising citizens’ awareness, particularly at the local level, was emphasized.
