Invited on Top News, Gledis Gjipali, Executive Director of the European Movement in Albania (EMA), commented on the European Political Community summit in Tirana, which was held for the first time in a Western Balkan country. He considered this development a positive signal, emphasizing that Albania becoming a regional hub for high-level activities with the participation of European leaders sets the country apart in the regional context and could open the way for progress toward EU membership.

Gjipali stressed that EU accession depends not only on fulfilling reforms but also on the consensus of the member states. He added that the successful organisation and hosting of such summits helps build a positive image for Albania.

Regarding the possibility of joining the EU by 2027, Gjipali described it as an ambitious goal that requires serious commitment from the political class. According to him, it is not enough to quickly close the negotiation chapters—what also matters is the quality of meeting the required standards.
