Intelli News: Political roadblocks ahead on Albania’s EU path

On 11 November 2016, Mr.Gledis Gjipali, the executive director of EMA, was interviewed by Intelli News regarding the political roadblocks on the Albania’s EU path. He agrees that the central plank of judicial reform is the vetting law. “The biggest problem is that the system is already heavily corrupt and for years this has been unbreakable,” he says. So far, according to Gjipali, no judges or prosecutors have been dismissed or prosecuted for corruption-related crimes. Now the government is attempting to clean up the system, “there is a resistance and this has been delaying the reforms”.
