In an interview with Top News, Gledis Gjipali, Executive Director of the European Movement in Albania (EMA), outlined the key outcomes of the ninth Intergovernmental Conference, describing the provisional closure of the first three negotiating chapters as a clear political message from the European Union, demonstrating the EU’s positive commitment to advancing Albania’s accession process.
He further warned that the negotiations have now entered their most demanding phase, with chapters covering food safety, the environment, and rural development expected to have a direct impact on domestic businesses and farmers. To mitigate these challenges and reduce the risk of business failures, Gjipali stressed the urgent need for the Albanian government to negotiate transitional periods with the EU and to establish immediate financial support mechanisms to help affected sectors adapt to the new regulatory framework.
