MCN – Gender equality; Gjipali: It brings no significant impact or negative consequences for society, 7 November 2025

During an interview on MCN TV, Gledis Gjipali, Executive Director of the European Movement in Albania (EMA), analysed several developments related to Albania’s European integration process. Regarding the gender equality law, Gjipali commented that the terms used in the law are the same as those applied in the European Union and that it will not bring any significant impact or negative consequences for Albanian society in general. Rather, it represents a step forward in meeting European standards for the protection of the rights of marginalised groups.

He then commented on the latest progress report, describing it as positive and commendable thanks to the good work carried out by Albania, while also acknowledging the problems the country still faces in various fields. Gjipali also emphasized the establishment of concrete deadlines for the rapid completion of tasks by Albanian institutions. Furthermore, he underlined the fact that the quality of reforms affects the speed of the process, arguing this through the need for reforms to produce the appropriate effect and impact for all stakeholder groups.

In conclusion, Gjipali stated that political polarization significantly affects Albania’s integration process. Therefore, political dialogue and agreement between the two main political forces are essential for the initiation and implementation of all reforms, which are expected to have a significant impact over the next 10–20 years, as well as for addressing the challenges of membership. Gjipali added that Albania must continue to carry out effective diplomatic work to convince all EU member states. At present, there are no countries that are skeptical toward Albania, but this depends on the progress and implementation of reforms. Equally important is the management of IPARD funds, which must be at a high standard in order to address all challenges in a timely manner.
