ABC News – Historic meeting of the two governments; Deliu: Italy, a supporter of Albania, will push forward EU integration, 16 November 2025

Invited to the program “Newsroom” on ABC News, Nirvana Deliu, an expert on the European integration process at the European Movement in Albania (EMA), analysed the meeting held between the Italian and Albanian governments in Rome, among other related developments. Initially, Deliu stated that after assuming the EU presidency, Italy will advance the integration process of Albania. Italy has been a supporter at every stage of Albania’s integration process, a role that stems from the weight it carries in European policymaking. In conclusion, Deliu highlighted the challenges that must be overcome during this process, noting that there are 56 decisions of the EU Council that Albania must pass. Therefore, there are 56 opportunities, and if France and the Netherlands were to decide to use a veto, the message would be clear: Albania is not fulfilling its obligations properly.
