Albania officially opened the third cluster in its EU accession negotiations today—a significant step expected to have a direct impact on both public administration and the private sector. Expert Gledis Gjipali, Executive Director of the European Movement in Albania, stated that this phase is closely linked to the economy and business, introducing equal competition conditions with the European market, lowering transport costs, and reducing border delays. He emphasized that the opening of this cluster requires serious engagement from Albanian businesses themselves, as they will be directly affected by the changes ahead.

Gjipali also addressed the challenges accompanying this stage, highlighting the alignment of national legislation with the EU acquis as one of the most crucial. He noted that by the end of 2027, Albania aims for full legal alignment, stressing that laws must not only be adopted but properly implemented. This, he added, will require strong institutional and political support.
