EuroNews Albania: Macron’s idea for a new ‘European political community’

On May 11^th, 2022, Nirvana Deliu, Policy Researcher at EMA was on Euronews Albania to discuss Macron’s new enlargement alternative. Recently, the French president presented to the European Parliament the proposal to create a “new European political community” that would allow countries that are not part of the European Union to be closer to the union. Deliu stated the EU needs to amend the decision-making method because unanimity is making this process ineffective. She pointed out that Macron has stated that he does not compromise in the name of enlargement on the standards and principles that states must have to become part of the EU.
