On September 13, 2023, Gledis Gjipali/EMA’s Executive Director was invited to A2 CNN to give his remarks on President Von Der Leyen’s speech, the challenges she faced as the head of the European Commission and the open possibility of a re-candidacy in the upcoming elections. Regarding the issue of enlargement, Gjipali brought to attention meritocracy and the rule of law as a crucial element and requirement for the countries that aspire to join. In his assessment, reform initiatives, especially the veto regulation, should go hand in hand with enlargement and not hinder it.
