Report TV – Deliu: EU-Western Balkans Summit: Growth Plan and Albanians’ Place in the Region, 29 February 2024

Nirvana Deliu, European Integration Expert, who was invited to Report TV, assured viewers that the EU will support Western Balkan nations who show a stronger commitment to and willingness to carry out reforms. According to Deliu, the summit’s statement was significant because it showed how the European Union was becoming more interested in various areas, most notably the economy. The aim is to encourage all Western Balkans economies to become fully integrated into the European Union. The expert claims that it is abundantly evident from the new Growth Plan that the EU wants to coordinate legal reforms with economic growth. Deliu emphasized that every nation in the Western Balkans needs to prepare a reform agenda. Based on their willingness and commitment, they will obtain grants and soft loans from the EU in exchange for cooperation. Deliu emphasized that the European Union views grant allocations with great consideration, but that this must be coupled with the Western Balkan countries—especially Albania—implementing reforms.
