Report TV – Expert Gjipali: Without an independent judiciary, Albania does not join the EU! Objective: Fulfilment of conditions by 2030, 27 March 2024
Following the Albania-EU meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom, and Security held in Brussels, integration expert Gledis Gjipali, invited to the ‘Sot Live në Shqipëri’ show, assessed the progress in implementing judicial reform, emphasising the importance of timely completion of the vetting process for judges and prosecutors. He expressed that without an independent judiciary, the country cannot integrate into the EU, noting that issues within the rule of law extend to member states, making it a delicate field requiring continuous reforms. The expert underscored the necessity for reforms to be under quality and speed control, two key elements for progress. Gjipali added that various chapters, particularly the justice chapter, the fight against organised crime, public procurement, statistics, and financial control, are crucial for the integration process into the EU. In conclusion, the expert emphasised the importance of the justice reform chapter, stating that if delayed, the entire integration process halts.
